Reiki Baby and massage plus.
I know this advice comes from an old man however the kids call me spooky pop some even say very very spooky pop. Do use your own common sense.
You never know some of this might help you and baby. First Reiki no harm can be done with Reiki in fact all hands on contact touch is so beneficial for both Mother and Baby to not only help Baby relax and help create a special bond with one on one time between the two of you certain massage techniques can really help get rid of trapped wind that can sometimes be a major cause of colic. I have included a few simple ways to massage Baby to help relieve the discomfort associated with colic and discomfort
Do The Following:
Lay baby on back and stretch legs out and down. Gently lift and bend both legs (together) up towards belly button. Hold for 10 seconds, relax and repeat 3 times.
Next, with baby still lying on back, gently lift the right leg up towards the left ear (but not as high). Hold for 10 seconds and relax. Repeat this exercise 3 times also. Change sides and repeat
The next massage is working on the tummy and gently encouraging the movement of wind through the gut.
Lay baby on back. With a little massage, baby oil gently but firmly massage around the belly button. Keep your hands on the tummy the whole time and continue to follow the same route. By doing this you are gently helping to push trapped air through the lower intestine.
The next exercise is a gentle indent with 2 fingers and then a quick release. This can sometimes help releasing trapped air also, in a particular area of the stomach where trapped air can accumulate. To find the correct spot, do the following.
Lay baby on back. From Baby's bellybutton go down diagonally on the right hand side, (the side of their appendix). Roughly half way between the bellybutton and the groin is where you need to do the exercise. Gently push in with 2 fingers and release quickly. Repeat this 3 times.
I have stolen some of this info from baby care site however its just standard stuff .and saves me some writing .if you have a colic baby do check out the old gripe water its tried and true .
Children should never be
administered aspirin. Babies older than three months can be given either baby paracetamol or baby ibuprofen Experts caution parents not to overdose their children – more is not better – and not to mix medications. Pick one and stick to it.
Signs: Red swollen gums, lots of drool, a change in sleeping patterns and feeding habits can all signal a tooth before it is visible. Some mums say their baby becomes cranky, runs a temperature, has unexplained diarrhoea or develops a rash around their little mouth.
Cures: Teething babies' inflamed gums can be soothed by something cold or hard to bite on, such as a teething ring. Try soaking a new flannel in chamomile tea and then letting it cool in the fridge and giving it to baby to suck on. Cold pureed food can also help. If they are in pain, there are teething gels and remedies available. Speak to your doctor before administering pain relief, such as paracetamol, which shouldn’t be given to babies under three months
Signs: All babies posit from time to time, but some regurgitate their feeds with great consistency. In the latter case, it might be reflux. Reflux is caused by an immature sphincter valve at the top of the stomach, which allows its contents to rise back up into the oesophagus. This can cause a painful burning sensation for babies, as well as redecorating your furniture and wardrobe.
Cures: Holding babies in an upright position after feeding, for up to twenty minutes, can help thanks to gravity alone. Feeding babies less at each feed but more frequently can also help. If your baby vomits constantly, more than five times daily, and is distressed after a feed, visit your local doctor or early childhood nurse to see if there is a bigger issue than standard reflux. There is so much more .maybe some of you mums might add some more. Cheers Sidney.
