Step 1
You have to convert your MP3s to WAV,you will find a
freeware prog on the freeware board.
Next create a new folder on your C:Drive and rename it
mymusicwaves, or choose anyname you like,
This is the folder that your converted wav files will
be in, so with your mp3 to wav softare set the path
to this folder.
Step 2
launch Windows Sound Recorder, the easy
way is to have a shortcut to it on your desktop,
to do this click on Start. All Programs, go up to
Accessories, then Entertainment, then Sound Recorder
Right Mouse Click on it, then go down to Send To, Then
Desktop (Create Shortcut) click on that and you should
see a speaker on your desktop.
Step 3
Choose you song with your mp3 to wav converter, click
on convert and make sure it goes to the folder with
your wav files are stored see Step 1
Step 4
Click on the Sound Recorder speaker on your desktop,
this will open Windows Sound Recorder.
Next Click on File Open, select Local Disk C: then go
down the list and click on the folder where you have saved
your wav audio files, left click on the folder then select
the song you want to edit, left click your mouse on it,
then click on the open box, Your song is now in Sound Recorder
ready for you to edit it.
Step 5
Click on play to listen to your song, you can record any part
of it, just mess about until you get it right, You can delete
any part of your song before and after the clip you want 10
to 15 seconds is enough for people to guess any song if they know
it, example editing play the first 15 seconds of your song then click
on stop, next click on edit, then click on Delete After Current Position,
this will leave you with your 15 second song, to delete silence or any
part of the song from the start Click on Stop, then Edit, then Delete,Before
current position.
the 15 seconds is only a rough guide, when you are happy with you clip
song go to step 6
Step 6
Saving your Song,
Click on Save As, in the box at the top where it says Save in select Desktop,
then where it says file name delete it and give it a name example micks1,
then where it says Format PCM 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo, click on Change,
in the Format box on the right hand side click on the dropdown list and
Select MPEG Layer-3, then attributes you will see a longlist of mono and
stero sample rates, choose one you like but please remember the higher
the quality the larger the file will be, a 32 k bits,24000Hz mono 3kb per
second would make a 15 second song no larger than 50k that is very small,
the stero one i use is 40 bits 24000Hz Stero 4kb per second is 45 seconds
far to long is 224k which is not bad for how long the clip is. all you have to
do now is click on save job done, well nearly
Step 7
Now you need some webspace to upload your music clip, most uk isps give you
free webspace, there are many free ones but you will have to check that they
will let you upload wav audio files, if any one know any free storage sites
or free web-sites that let you upload wav audio files please let us know,
When posting your song you will need to type in the full path to you wav
file example in my case,
www.light-reiki.co.uk/micks23.wav ;D
this is the first manual i have done hope you understand it
