Hello all Yesterday marked the end of my 21 day healing process after being attuned to reiki level 1. I guess this sounds rather silly but now what do I do? I mean I have practised Reiki 5 times on others which is fine but I was wondering if whether I need to do anything else after the 21 day healing? Is there some other kind of self-healing I need to do or will I notice anything different? Do I just carry on and are there any general everyday excercises that would be good for me to carry out just to keep balance or did the 21 day self-healing sort that out? Also can someone please exaplain what the 21 day healing is for? I mean I have a general idea but would like to know more in depth of the reasons or theory behind the 21 day self-healing. Also I know that you need some time before taking the attunements between reiki levels but could someone just clarify how long? I'm assuming that you need 6 months after you have been attuned to reiki level 1 to go and get attuned to reiki level 2. Thanks for reading this Love and light S xxx

Hi celestite You should treat yourself daily............what's the point of having this beautiful gift if you don't use it on yourself ;D A lot of teachers don't 'teach' about the 21 day cleansing now.......and I don't know when it first started being taught..........I personally don't teach it because I believe that we are all different, some people go through physical and emotional healing, some barely notice it. I had a couple of days when I felt a bit emotional after my first attunement, but that was all I felt. I think that if we are told that we will feel emotional, and have flu like symptoms and aches and pains for 21 days, then we probably will because we believe that so we manifest it ourselves. Obviously the energy does need to settle around you, and you will feel different after attunements, especially your first, but that doesn't mean that you should feel anything 'bad'. I feel that you should wait between attunements, but the only person who can tell you how long to wait is YOU............you will know when you are ready for level 2, it may be a month, it may be 3 months, it may be 6 months, it may be longer. Get used to the feelings you get from level 1, practice as much as you can on yourself and others..........and move on when the time is right for you. love stef

Celestite, Daily self treatments are perfect for clearing out any "energetic debris" (if there even is any) from your initial attunement. Self treatment is a great way to get familiar with the Reiki energy. So is treating as many other people as you can at first. I got my Reiki 1 and 2 on the same day, then waited four years until I felt like I was ready for the next attunement. But that doesn't mean it will be the same for you or anyone else. Stef is right, just listen to yourself, and you will know when to take the next step, whether it's two months or two years. Love, Joanie

Thank you very much for your replies ;D I am glad that you told me what you told me. I have indeed noticed that since being attuned to Reiki 1 I seem to have raised my viabrations and consciousness a bit more and the great thing to have come out of reiki 1 attunement is that I now know that I want to fully become a healer I was a bit emotional and then there was that whole "What am I doing with my life and what is my purpose" stuff going on inside my head. Thank you again for your replies. Love and light S xxx

It is under a month since I have been attuned to level I Reiki. I self treat often and have been treating another person as well. I have been reading as much related material as I can find. Thank you so much for this group. The knowledge and feedback could not be found in any one book or publication.
During my sessions with the recipient I would treat the painful areas first and then move to other areas. It would reach a point where the recipient would make a slight noise and say “That is enough for now”. I would always ask what was the matter and the response would be ~ “I just got a weird feeling”. I would enquire if there was a particular area that felt cold or uncomfortable and the answer would be no. . . . Yesterday for the first time I started the treatment at the crown, working down to the root chakra and paying more attention to the problem areas of the back. I continued to work down to the feet, then I asked if the energy could be felt traveling up from the feet. The reply was yes, but the flow seemed to stop at the sacral chakra. I treated the sacral area again then proceeded back to the feet. The energy was then blocked at the solar plexus. I treated the solar plexus area, moved on to the heart and throat. I moved back down to the feet but the energy was still stopping at the same area. At this point I turned up my energy level to the point I could feel pulsing vibrations at my fingertips but it wasn’t free flowing and being accepted in this particular area. I have read about scooping out bad energy, replacing it with the good pure energy and smoothing it into the aura. This is what I proceeded to try then I placed my hands on the solar plexus and I could feel the energy being accepted and flowing freely. When I returned to the feet, this time the energy was flowing from the feet to the crown. I have treated this person many time and finally got it right.
I know this is kind of long winded but I guess what I am trying to say is, this journey is not on a schedule or timetable. My emotions are still running very high and the feeling of being is just unbelievable. I am still shedding deep wounds from when I was a young child. Who would think emotional scars would surface after more than fifty-two years? This was a very traumatic tooth extraction by the dentist in public grammar school. I am sure that after level II and III Attunements there will be so much more to surface and to let go. Reiki is truly the most amazing journey of my life! I believe it is not so much that I have found ~ it is more like “I have been found”.

Right on Chevy Flame That was awesome man! Dont worry about long winded posts; believe me I do it ALL the time haha I loved reading it I think next time I treat someone or myself I shall try your method And Celestite I also think you should just go with your own intuition or self We are the only ones that know ourselves best ( did that make sense? haha ) For me I got my Reiki 1 attunement and I just felt happier those days. I was taught the 21 day cleansing and was explained that it was a time for our chakras to balance and cleanse ( 3 days per chakra) but I think mine went for a bit shorter We are all different Also, I got my 2nd level around 3 months after my first attunement and then got my third 6 months after my second (around there) Its all just about how you feel with yourself and with experience and knowledge. The question I asked myself and still do is; Do I feel that I honestly could go to the next step?? I was hesitant a bit from level 1 to 2 because I felt that I needed more time to gain experience I was even more hesitant from 2 to 3 because I felt I could use a bit more knowledge Although it might be hard at times and ego and want might get in the way, it is always best to be honest with yourself Follow you Heart and inner Voice Love Light and Peace Manuel

Like Ruth and others have stated, treating your self daily is one of the biggest gifts Reiki has to offer. Gassho meditation is another thing you might want to try, it`s not for everyone, but if it works for you, the benefits are wonderful. Hatsurie-ho is another exercise I`ve been taught that, for some, increases sensitivity and connection to self and the energies of Reiki. Self healing after attunement to level one is what is important. It could be 21 days, 21 months or 21 years. I don`t remember reading anywhere that Usui mentions or taught a 21 day cleanse. I think it`s an interesting parallel that Usui spent 21 days on Mount Karama in meditation when he became aware....or so the story is told. I did self healing sessions that lasted for over an hour, for a year and a half. the benefits were wonderful....and then reality stepped in and I had to dedicate that time to other things. Now I have that time again....gratitude abounds for this happening. I didn`t wait as long as I should have I feel. Level two was a bit of a shaker for me.....where as the masters attunements I`ve been blessed with were very comfortable.....In my case, i had emotional junk that was rather deep seated that I wasn`t aware of, and when I was attuned to the mental emotional symbol, a rather confusing and uncomfortable cleanse was put into effect...went on for a few weeks....all was good after that...to make a long story short...it`s different for everyone.... Hi, The 21 day cleansing process is all about habit... it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, I assume your RMT told you to self heal each day for the 21 days. If you do this then you get into the habit of using Reiki, and more importantly, you start to get familiar with the energies of Reiki. As far as time between attunements, I would expect anyone requesting a Reiki 2 attunement to have integrated the techniques of the first degree. This could be a day, a week, a year... I like my students to take about three months, but it all depends on them. I am only a guide on what is, ultimately, their journey.

Hi Jim The history of Reiki is very sketchy so nothing should be taken as exact fact.............but it's believed that 21 days is the amount of time that Mikao Usui spent in meditation on Mt Kurama Yama. The 21 day healing process is NOT felt by everyone..........so don't 'expect' it to happen, and don't feel that you haven't received your attunement if you don't feel anything. love stef

Hi Stef Yeah I agree with you totally....I believe also that it was associated with the time spent by Usui on Karauma...so the cleanse period to me, in reference to 21 days seems misleading.....I really believe that the "cleanse" may in some cases be a cleanse......but in other cases may be the body/spirit of the individual getting used to and learning to accomadate the energies of Reiki....and I also believe that it can take considerable longer than 21 days.... Hi RJ,
I totally agree, cleansing will take as long as it takes. if you are used to energy work, you practice Taichi, chigung etc. then the process MAY take less time than if you have not come across any modalities of energy work/healing. The 21 days, as I said in my earlier post is all about making the use of Reiki habit. tracing symbols every day for 21 days, self healing every day for 21 days embeds these principals in you subconscious and makes it habit.

Hi Nick, Yeah. I see what you mean in reference to creating habitual practices over 21 days...definitely a useful and healthy interpretation of the 21 day period...peace and prosperity to you...... RJ
