Uses for the Symbols
Cho Ku Rei.
This is the Power Symbol. It will increase the power of your healing. So when you are treating someone who has a specific problem first find out the source of their pain or dis-ease. When you are experienced in healing, your hands will tell you by reacting as you pass them above the recipient's body. You can use a pendulum as a guide but do not place too much reliability on it - it is better to ask your client. Drawing the Cho Ku Rei over the problem area will enhance and increase the power of the treatment. Imagine it as a tool to aid healing and focus the energy in a particular spot. Say the mantra (Cho Ku Rei) three times. Three being the number of manifestation and creation.
Before starting any healing session it is a good idea to draw the Power symbol into the corners of the room - this serves to clear any negativity or bad vibrations away and you can follow it with a blessing. EG ''I am protecting this room with light and love.''
To enhance any treatment you give, another good idea is to draw the Power symbol on the palms of both of your hands before starting. Then place your hands together in the Gassho
(prayer) position and feel the Reiki begin to flow. Or clap your hands together saying the sacred mantra three times. This helps to open the palm chakras and empower your hands for healing.
You can also draw the Power symbol on each of your chakras - this will help to clear them and put you into balance. Remember to chant the symbol three times at each chakra. Or simply draw the Power symbol down the front of your body to protect your aura.
We all know how important grounding is so after you have been giving treatments or doing any energy work, try drawing the Power symbol on the soles of your feet to help you become more grounded and in tune with the Earth.
When writing out your requests to put in the healing box or under your crystal grid, you can draw the Power symbol on the paper as you add the name. This will enhance your goal to facilitate in sending the healing rays to that person.
Draw the Power symbol over your food before eating to make sure of receiving the most benefit from it and to release and negate any bad energies that could be attached.
Finally, do experiment yourself - the Symbol has many uses not least of all in energising your car on that cold morning when it refuses to start. It can even add that spark of energy to your car battery when you think it has finally given up. Enough to get you to the garage!!
Sei He Ki
The Emotional/Mental symbol
As we understand it, nearly all physical dis-ease has an emotional or mental root and this is where the Emotional/Mental symbol can be the key to release. Sometimes when you are giving a treatment, old issues, past life trauma, emotional pain can rise to the surface and if these feelings can be released then your client will feel as if a great weight has been lifted. Suppression of emotional trauma can itself lead to physical dis-ease.
This is where the Sei He Ki can be the key that opens the door. As in most treatments, before starting you should ask the client the nature of their illness and if you suspect that there are deep seated problems then the use of the Sei He Ki can connect the person with the pain long enough to finish it and let it go.
You can use the Emotional symbol to protect yourself from psychic attack. Draw it around yourself and affirm that ' I am now protected by the power of Reiki '. Or visualise a white light shield of energy surrounding you in a cocoon with the Sei He Ki like wallpaper on the surface.
Do you suffer from temporary loss of memory? Forget where you put those keys? Or can't put a name to the face of someone you know you know!! Try placing your hands on your head and drawing the Emotional symbol on your 3rd eye chakra. Chant the sacred name of the symbol three times and ask to remember. Then relax and forget about it. You may be surprised to suddenly remember what it is you have forgotten!!
The Emotional symbol can also help you to tolerate those people that grate on your nerves. Visualise the Sei He Ki smoothing away the irritation to enable you to view them with difference eyes. Had an argument recently with a loved one? Next time you fall out, try imagining the symbol flowing between you and pouring oil on the troubled waters. You should feel harmony and peace and the anger will float away.
Those of you who are studying for exams or tests can be assisted by the Emotional/Mental symbol too. It won't fill in the gaps where you haven't concentrated on your teacher, but it will assist you in remembering what you have learnt. Draw the symbol over the test paper to allow you to access all that information you have stored in the corner of your brain.
Relationships can benefit from Reiki and the Sei He Ki. You will see better what is best for you and your partner and if the relationship is not meant to be then the Emotional symbol can assist in the parting of the ways in a more harmonious way. Draw it into the room chanting the sacred mantra three times, before any major decisions on relationships.
Trying re-inforcing your strength of will when starting that diet or giving up smoking by using the Sei He Ki to assist you with your willpower. When you are tempted to eat that chocolate or extra helping of fattening food why not write your affirmation on a piece of paper , add the
Emotional symbol, chant the mantra 3 times and place it under your plate or on the fridge with a magnet!! Or put the piece of paper in the cigarette packet and then throw the packet on the fire when making your affirmation to give up smoking? Intention is all important but Reiki will help you towards sucess.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
One definition of the Distant healing symbol from Diane Stein's book is ''No past, no present, no future.''
This may be a guide to it's uses.
The Distant symbol
This symbol sends Reiki at a distance. Across a room, across a city, across an ocean, across the world. And of course across the Internet.
This is really the only symbol you need to send healing. Of course you can combine it with one or both of the other symbols but the Distant healing symbol will do the job for you.
You can connect with a person by distance in a variety of ways. Telephone them and draw the symbol in the air, visualising it travelling down the line to start the healing process.
Use a photograph and draw the symbol over it, chant the mantra three times whilst meditating on the person and then holding the photograph between your hands, allow the Reiki to flow. You can draw the symbol on the back of the photo to reinforce the healing.
Use a surrogate for the person. A stuffed toy like a teddy bear is popular. You can draw the Distant symbol and then place you hands on the teddy bear in the position of the problem. This is using the 'law of correspondence' and you can affirm when starting the treatment ''By the law of correspondence and intent I designate this teddy bear as ''person's name'.
You can name yourself as surrogate or a part of your body like your leg. Affirm that you are substituting this for the person requiring healing and give Reiki in the normal way. Draw the Distant symbol on your leg before treating.
Crystals can be used in the same way. I like to choose an appropriate crystal for the person requiring healing that locates their particular problem. Ie I would use an Aventurine for someone with a heart problem or a Rose Quartz for someone needing emotional heart healing.
Draw the Distant symbol over the crystal, then hold the crystal between the palms allowing the reiki to flow and chanting the sacred mantra three times. You could place the crystal on top of the paper with the person's name written on it or onto a crystal healing grid together with all your other healing requests. Treat them all in the same way and then give Reiki to the grid each day.
You can send Reiki to the past and future with the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. Sending to the future can mean that the atmosphere is charged in the best and most harmonious way to bring about a successful result whether it be a visit to a dentist or a trip to talk about your child's progress at school. Write the situation and the day and time on a piece of paper, draw the Distant symbol and affirm that you want the best possible result.
Sending to the past will mean that all the stress and trauma related to that past situation will be viewed in a more harmonious and less distressing way. You cannot alter what has happened but you can possibly release the angst associated with it.
Write the situation, time, date, your age, and any other information on a piece of paper. Draw the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen over the paper, affirm that you want healing to take place and whilst making the connection to the past, chant the sacred name three times. Hold the connection and send Reiki to it visualising the trauma being realised and transmuted to the Violet Fire or your own psychic dustbin. Then visualise the situation bathed in the
white or pink light of healing.
These are just some ideas for you - experiment for yourselves but do remember that the symbols are the 'tools' of Reiki. Your INTENT is always the most important aspect.
