If someone still uses free-AVG as antivirus remember that it won't be free any longer, but avast antivirus is free for non comensial use. It does handle both viruses and spyware, which is pretty nifty www.avast.com

Thank you Marcus, I was concerned over the change on 19th Jan, from free to fee paying. This is a great alternative and I have now downloaded it from the site you posted.

I have done some research into this, as I also use AVG..... It is only the older version (7.1) that will no longer be available for update after the 19th of January. All users of this edition will have been notified of this change. The current edition (7.5) which I use is available as a free down load and remains absolutely free as an ongoing commitment from AVG.
