So what does it mean? In brief: 'The God in me greets the God in you The Spirit in me meets the same Spirit in you'In not so brief: www.exoticindiaart.com/article/namasteI'm sure there are more ways of interpretations. Please share yours. Namaste Michael

Namaste Michael,
I love this greeting. Here is what a little book on yoga I have has to say about it ...................
Namaste An Eastern Greeting
With the palms of the hands together, resting at the heart centre (those of you with reiki experience will know this as gassho)
I honour the place within you Where the universe resides. In love, in truth, in peace. I honour the place within you, For if you are in that place in you, And I am in the place in me, There is only one of us.
Om shanti

So very true Sumer - it is such a beautiful, healing practise It is also the basis of "A lotus for you, a Buddha to be". This comes from Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, who is a guiding light to me. He says that you should place your hands in namaste/gassho and greet every person you meet with this (you can do this in your mind's eye if it's not appropriate to actually it ) Om shanti
