Hi All I'm putting some information together for a website that I'm planning and I'm writing a section called 'Dispelling the Myths of Reiki', so I've been looking at a lot of things that I've read about Reiki and trying diferrent things out to see if I agree or not ;D ;D One of the things that I've read is that you shouldn't cross your arms or legs while giving or receiving Reiki as it blocks the flow of the energy.......yet we are also told that Reiki will flow anywhere, whatever....... So I tried it out while treating myself and I couldn't find any difference.......I crossed my legs, yet still felt the Reiki flow to my feet......I crossed my arms, yet my hands still felt the same as when my arms are uncrossed. I just wondered if anyone else had tried this and what you have found love stef

Well when I do the energy exercise Hastu Re Ho or meditation, I do it sitting crossed legged. I have felt the same energy so far or even more than when sitting otherwise. I have also received or done reiki sitting crossed-legged most of the time and it is very strong.
I have tried crossed arm reiki for my shoulders, cause it is easier that way. Well I do not know if that works or not, cause by that time my arms are all tired out ;D ;D.

Hi Stef I have also read that you should not cross legs and arms, but i have not noticed any difference during a treatment. I also found this in a reiki site: The body has a North and South. The head is North and the feet are South. Your right hand is North and your left hand is South. Your right hand should always be North of the left hand. This will keep you and your client for nasty side affects. Have any of you heard this before ??

Hi Stef
No I have not noticed a difference in the energy flow when having crossed arms or legs. The only way I can self treat my back is by crossing my arms and placing them on my shoulders. I always mediate whilst sitting and whether it is an unconcious reaction, I always find that my legs are crossed

I can't recall reading anything about it that is close to the teachings of Usui... all those newagers come up with rules and restrictions all the time... if I can reach someone on the other side of the planet with Reiki by pure intent.... legs crossed BS! make up rules - and keep people down in fear ;D love Michael

Thanks guys Just as I thought......it doesn't make any difference ;D Ole.....I've heard of the North/South parts of the body, but not that your right hand should always be North of your left hand......I often have my left hand above my right hand and it doesn't seem to make any difference ;D Michael.....you're jumping the gun a bit with my future surveys ;D ;D........Apparantly distance attunements don't work ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Can you believe I got most of the information that I'm currently ripping to shreds ;D ;D from a published book.....how many people have bought, read......and believe .....this rubbish. love stef

Hi Stef
I was sitting last night, with my legs and arms crossed and it made no difference. When i meditate i always sit crossed legged, with one hand on top of the other and after a while once i feel peaceful, i feel Reiki flowing in that position also.

Hi Stef,
I don't find that crossed legs or arms make a difference either. Many of the sites out there say not to do it, but don't give an explanation as to why not. I know the site that Ole refers to that says your head and right hand are North, your feet and left hand are South, and north must always be higher than south, and that there are "negative"consequences if you don't do this. I think Michael is right about people making up their own rules ;D, which may apply to them, but not necessarily to the rest of us. Love, Mikilangela

I agree with Mick - Intent is what is important. But then this truth most of us achieve after going through the collective knowledge, myths, rules etc which stef is planning to dispel. Stef reiki flowing for the success of your efforts. l love anand
