How many people here talk about Reiki to the people we meet in our everyday lives? When I first received my attunements I didn't talk to many people about it because I was worried about the response I'd get....."Is she mad?"  But now I find that I am talking about it a lot more, often to people that I've never met before, or people that I don't know very well. I think it may be because my confidence has grown, and I now feel able to answer any questions that I'm asked........and if anyone looks at me as if I'm mad I have the confidence to tell them how Reiki has helped me to improve my life, and how it helps me to overcome difficulties that I encounter. So..........do you guys talk about it, or do you keep quiet about it?  love stef  |

I don't talk to many people about reiki as I find most people have very closed minds when it comes to things they can't see or things that haven't been "scientifically proven".
I also think there are so many people out there who have never heard of reiki. ( I hadn't heard about it myself until a couple of years ago). Although I must admit that there a people I've spoken to who have a hidden spiritual side that you wouldn't suspect so I guess we shouldn't go by external appearances.
I do think its great that the internet can bring like-minded people together to talk about these things. That certainly wouldn't have happened a few years ago, so I think things are moving in the right direction.

Hey Stef,
In my case it would probably be easier to say, who don't I talk to about Reiki and related topics? I'm a great advocate for promoting the spiritual side of life at every given opportunity. The only time I refrain from doing so is if I'm asked not too, or pre warned that a particular person is dead against it.
Like you Stef, I have a certain confidence about me now which allows me to speak my truth and if anybody doesn't agree, then that's fine too.

Hi Stef I do talk to people i know about reiki, but i don't wear a sign with reiki on my chest ;D ;D ;D I don't talk much about reiki to people i don't know though Love Ole |

well... my son is a lot into Star Wars and "the force" and he asks a lot about that and I found myself telling him the same thing as Yoda in "the empire strikes back"... the force surrounds us, it's in every living thing... it can't be used to strangle Count Dooku though but it's in all of us... we just have different names for it... son: what names? dad: some call it love, others call it energy... ah parenting ;D |

I rarely get to talk about Reiki with the 'locals' where I live  ...I get looks that question my sanity! (Though they may have a point about my sanity, just not where Reiki is concerned!) I even have a couple of friends who change the subject rather quickly too...though most of my friends will happily accept, and indulge talking about my 'little quirk'...which is good,as they're often my only 'outlet'...LOL! Though sometimes, It really does make me wonder why on earth I live where I do! |

You know I've found it the same waywhere I live too. You either have to know that someone is into it or they look at me as if I have 3 heads. (I guess maybe on some days I do...lol) But seriously, if your not into the alternative health field they don't want to even hear about it.
The way I look at it is, one day I'm really really going to need this ( I need it now too but some how professionally) . I actually have no idea of really brought me here to begin with and how this all started, but it has and I know I need to continue my education on. Something is just telling me this and to learn as much as I can.
I would love to talk to others about it, but trying to find a local group that's not far from where I'm at or can accomodate my schedule is another. Until than I have this site to share and come in tact with others from around the world.
Things do happen for a reason, I guess its not my time yet.................I can wait:)

I do not talk to people about "Reiki" unless its been brought up. I usually get them to think about stuff like Reiki when I pull out my pendgulem, and I show them what energy looks like when they think, which leads them to a whole bunch of other questions.
