Thought you might find this interesting Sidney. Marguerite Schenken is a Jin Shin Tara Approach practitioner in the Humboldt area. The energy in our bodies connects us to all of existence through the unified field. At the subatomic level we are exchanging electrons with the universe constantly. At this level of existence we have no distinguishing characteristics from anything. Eastern philosophies describe this vital energy, called chi, as similar to, but more subtle than, electro-magnetivity. This is the meeting point of Eastern philosophy and Quantum Mechanics.
Physics
Energy is present before manifestation. Energy precedes matter just as thought or feeling precedes action. The relativity theory created by Albert Einstein tells us that mass is nothing but a form of energy. Atomic physics reveals that subatomic particles have no meaning as isolated entities, but can only be understood as interconnections. Quantum theory reveals a basic oneness of the universe. It shows that we cannot atomize the world into independently existing smaller units. For all of the distinctions we make between ourselves, the piece of paper on which this is printed, and the cup of coffee we drink as we read this, they are not distinct. They are all one and that one is energy.
Eastern Philosophy
Approaching energy from another perspective, we turn to Eastern philosophy. The Veda, an ancient Indian text, has an abundance of knowledge pertaining to the constructs of life. The Veda labels this energetic vibration vrittis. Inaudible to the human ear, vrittis is experienced through the nervous system energetically and then the mind interprets it and may translate it into action. When living beings channel this universal energy, chi, or vrittis it circulates throughout the meridians, nourishing our tissues.
Energy Medicine
Energy medicine replenishes and harmonizes the vital energy of the body by re-circulating energy in our meridians. In the Jin Shin Tara Approach, we do this by placing our fingertips on two energy centers, places where the meridians flow to the body’s surface in greater abundance. When we feel the pulsation of the energy harmonize on these two centers, we continue to progress to a different energy center. A series of points are called a flow and each flow has a specific intended function.
For example, when we do a liver flow we are affecting the chi (universal energy) of the liver. It enhances the energy on the periphery of the body, travels through the body via the meridians, and nourishes the liver with life force. This process becomes a meditation, where the spirit is directed through the body and the communion of our spirit and soul heals our psyche. When we begin healing ourselves, we want to start at the energetic level.
When we attempt to heal our bodies without recognizing the spirit, we hide our real dis-ease or dis-comfort in our lives. We become trapped in our present beliefs. When we treat ourselves with energy medicine, our bodies become a conduit for chi and our spirit becomes aligned with our actions.
The Soul/Spirit Connection
When we receive insight from our spirit we are open to life. It supports us in our actions and comforts our souls. The spirit is an airy component and the soul is watery. When the spirit rests with the soul, they harmonize each other. We discover the outward search for spirit is truly an inward quest for our soul. When our spirit’s energy disconnects from our soul, we have few possibilities besides our previous habits, choosing to live in ignorance because our spirit searches for wisdom outside of ourselves. When the connection is blocked, it creates fear in the soul. When we act in union with the unified field, called yoga in Sanskrit, we obtain a self-referral feedback loop. Through the loop, our actions are reflected upon by our spirit and we evolve from our previous behavior into a lively creative being. This effortless embodiment of our spirit allows us to accomplish our heart’s desires.
Stabilizing our awareness in the unchanging unbounded level of our existence, which is where our spirit resides, allows for all possibilities to be available to us. The greatest level of influence is available at this subtle level of creation. Quantum Mechanics calls the subtle level of creation the unified field, Taoists call it the Tao, Christians and Jews call it God, Muslims call it Allah, Rastafarians call it Jah, It is called Brahma by the Veda; but it is recognized as the essence of life by many.
Yoga Verse: She no longer bound to her body, her soul freed from the mind, was like a bird freed from it¹s cage.

I take it as this article is supposed to have a scientific flavour to it. If so, let's start putting my education to good use and see if it fits criteria of scientific-ness. I'm not trying to insult the author of this text in any way, but, I fear, a review by any scientist would look somewhat insulting... Well, let's get on We are not. At least not if author thinks that electrons are what scientists believe they are. Should this phenomenon occur, living substance is going to perish quite soon due to effects similar to those causing radiation disease. An interesting idea indeed... however, I have trouble imagining what could happen if you're going to ask some quantum physics specialist if he can calculate how Chi is formed at this "lowest" level of existence... people tend to have inertial thinking. They have. Electrons, protons and neutrons can very well exist and manifest themselves individually. Even sub-elementary particles exist not only "on paper", they are being observed in experiments (I think), though they tend to be pretty short-lived. We obviously can... well, there indeed maybe the level at which we can not atomize anything any further. It'd be interesting to know where this level of existence actually takes place. And it's obviously going to happen at the level much "lower" than subelementary particles, where the term WORLD isn't exactly well fitting. Ear isn't supposed to hear energetic vibrations at all... It's supposed to percieve organized vibrations of substance particles (well, if those energetic vibrations can affect substance particles and start their organized vibrations, we're going to "hear" those energetic vibrations... but from what I see it rarely happens that those subtle energies affect matter in such obvious way) Even if I wasn't a scientist, I'd ask, what are these "spirit" and "soul", what's the difference and how are they related to the present purely energetic discussion? Oh great, in a scientific discussion they try explaining things through the outdated terms of ancient Greek natural philosophy... Wasn't it earlier accentuated that there are actually no distinctions in the Universe? If so, what's the meaning of terms "inside oneslef" and "outside"? So let's finally define it, there are no distinctions at the "lower" levels - electrons, protons and neutrons are not distinct from any others of their respective kinds, but together they form very distinctively different atoms; isn't that what author intends to say? And on a side note, the thought that there is no wisdom outside myself makes my hair creep even in my armpits. It's going to result in solipsism, most likely. Well, at this lowest level of existance this unified field is probably not going to have sentience to be God, right? Things on such "low" levels of existence only happen completely randomly. And I would like to see facial expression of a quantum physics specialist when he's going to be told that quoted phrase *whew* Well, overall, the article is pretty interesting. I hope that there is someone around here to who will provide a decent intelligent discussion on what I've written here. Rei, N.V.T the Mrhnhrm of this world. P.S. It seems like subtle matters to which this forum is dedicated to are so far in a bad relation with fundamental researches.

Thank you, sydney, and mr. Jedi knight. I enjoyed both of your articles. I would however like to to hear from mrhnhrn what your believes are, seeing as you could only say what is wrong with sydneys article. Im open to learning, but you havent convinced me that what sydney says is not true. I take it you (mrhnhrn) are a scientist and i would love to hear your opinion on the law of one, if you believe in such a thing. And what is love, just a chemical reaction in the brain? thank you both. Love and lots of light.

Well I'm with Lizardking on this one It is really interesting what you say Mrhnhrm, and I'm not disputing what you say, but as you obviously know your stuff scientifically, I'd love to know what your beliefs are What lead you to your reiki path?and what do you believe about the transference of energy and channeling? And thankyou for posting this thread Sidney because without some debate how will we ever get closer to truths Much love, Imogen

like some debate I DO.try this then.love Sidney. New Quantum Concepts Three newer quantum ideas will be presented. Each had enjoyed experimental success in recent years. First is the "nonlocality" of particles. Interference experiments show that a single electron somehow is able to "spread out" and pass through two separate openings at the same time. Instead of a single particle, the electron can be pictured as a "wave packet" which can shrink or expand with time. Similar experiments also have detected a single beryllium atom in two slightly different locations at once (Monroe, et al., 1996). Second, it appears that certain pairs of particles can somehow influence each other even when widely separated (Pool, 1998). When one of the particles is disturbed, the remote companion, perhaps miles away, instantly reacts. This unexpected behavior has been compared to extrasensory perception or even voodoo. It has also led to intriguing claims about the possible instant "teleportation" of a person from one place to another. There may be a theological connection here with the future state and ability of believers. Third, the Casimir Effect appears to show the existence of virtual particles that exist in a perfect vacuum. An infinitesimal pressure has been measured within a laboratory vacuum, apparently from these ethereal particles (Baker, 1997). The virtual particles are sometimes further used to explain the origin of the universe. Thus it is said that a quantum mechanical fluctuation of virtual particles long ago gave rise to the big bang expansion. However, this origin explanation fails for at least two reasons. First, the big bang theory postulates no preexisting space or vacuum. Hence there would have been no place for virtual particles to fluctuate. Second, virtual particles, if real, form as matter and antimatter in equal amounts. However our universe appears to consist almost entirely of ordinary matter. Antimatter is distinctly rare. Conclusion There are several challenging ideas in quantum mechanics. It is no wonder that some scientists remain skeptical of the entire subject. However quantum mechanics has proven invaluable in many areas. There are no strong competing explanations for transistor and laser operation, radioactivity, chemistry quantum numbers, magnetic effects, and a host of other areas. Aside from the silly and heretical interpretations which some have imposed on it, there is no necessary conflict between creation and quantum mechanics. Only time will tell whether quantum theory endures or is replaced by some better but entirely different theory. Meanwhile the topic offers an intriguing look at the deeper details of God's creation. Quantum originator Max Planck expressed this same view in a 1937 address. He stated that science and religion wage a "tireless battle against skepticism and dogmatism, against unbelief and superstition," with the goal: "toward God!" (Gillispie, 1975). Thank you, sydney, and mr. Jedi knight. You're welcome And mr. Jedi Knight is just so official! We're in a friendly discussion, so please call me just Mrhnhrm It wasn't my goal to prove Sydney's article wrong. But I really couldn't pass by flaws obvious to me and ask for some qualifications where possible. If we're going to search for physical foundation of the subtle matters (which is a great idea to me), we can't take initially flawed premises as basis.I prefer the term 'seeker of truth', but well, science is what I probably know better than anything else. It has probably had some effect on my belief system... So, my belief system. I'll try to put it in detail. 1. I believe that the physical Universe was formed as a result of a Big Bang, out of a state where was no physical matter at all. Physical laws don't deny such a possibility, I think, even though that's difficult to comprehend I believe that there is no ever-omni-existent God of any sort and at the moment of Big Bang there were countless possible ways that the Universe could be formed like. The way the Universe has turned out as we know it now, was implemented randomly by law of chance. So, it could just as well be a different Universe, maybe with different laws, but it doesn't matter anymore. 2. I believe that life on Earth occurred spontaneously. It's proven fact that in the environment of primordial Earth complex organic substances can be formed as result of chemical reactions fueled by the radiant energy of the Sun, catalyzed by various minerals. Eventually were formed structures so complex that they could participate in activities typical for living matter, and these structures became suitable vessels for carrying the Universal Life Force, whichever way you prefer to call it. Primitive forms of life emerged and they evolved according to natural laws as we know them. 3. Speaking of this Force... I believe that it is another form of physical matter that doesn't obviously participate or manifest itself in physical phenomena that we can percieve by our five senses in the end (this includes observations by scientific instruments). This is why it's not so widely discussed and why progress in its organized research is pretty slow. 4. Speaking of chemical reactions in brain... There is no doubt that those reactions are a necessary part of consciousness of a physical body. However, I do believe that consciousness is not limited to just chemical reactions in brain. I think that human brain is a very organized structure that is a suitable vessel for a vrey organized form of The Force. So consciousness also exists in a subtle "non-physical" form, which pretty much copies the consciousness of physical brain. They are linked somehow and can affect each other to quite strong degree. How so? Not a slightest idea. I think that Subtle consciousness can exist independently of physical one, so I believe in afterlife. 5. I believe that belief itself is a great power in the Subtle world. When enough people believe in something, it may become true in the Subtle world, even true and powerful enough to manifest itself in the physical world occasionally (we probably all know of some recorded miracles related to passionate adepts of religion). However, this power and reality of made belief will have little to no effect on someone who doesn't share this given belief. I don't even know what it is, sorry. Care to enlighten me? What lead you to your reiki path? Allow me to answer with a link to my introductory message. freereiki.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=members&action=display&thread=1203609590Or do you mean what has caused a scientist like me to start delving in what lies beyond the basic 5 senses, even before I've joined this place? I'm not quite sure... maybe I just thought that the world without miracles is tad boring and pointless? I'm not quite sure what you mean, sorry... I hope that it was answered in description of my belief system. *applauds* *whew* Another article, Sydney? Well, pardon me but I'll have to study it later. Got some work to do. To participants of this discussion, Rei. N.V.T the Mrhnhrm of this world.

like some debate I DO.try this then.love Sidney. New Quantum Concepts An impressive compilation. Have you put it together yourself? If so, I take off my hat... at least I would if I had one ;D So, let's discuss what's within it, shall we? Sorry, I'm not going to search for references to the original literature, I'll take facts from my head. Call me lazy I guess The fact that electron exhibits properties of both a particle and a wave was discovered in 1927 by Davisson and Jermer. Some time earlier this phenomenon was predicted by DeBroile, who's created a sound theory outlining wave properties of microparticles. At approximately the same time Geizenberg's theory of nonlocality was derived from a number of simpler prepositions. With this in mind it seems only fair to expect that "electron somehow is able to "spread out" and pass through two separate openings at the same time. Instead of a single particle, the electron can be pictured as a "wave packet" which can shrink or expand with time." Actually, it seems strange that such an experiment was carried out only as late as 1996. This physical phenomena is, I believe, better known as Bose-Einstein's condensation, the possibility of which was predicted by them somewhere in the beginning of 20th century. But this phenomenon is not a common thing at all, it only occurs with certain particles (those that have no magnetic momentum, which means e.g. atoms with even nuclear charge and nuclear mass numbers... or at least it's easier to observe this phenomenon with atoms like that) AND it's only been observed at pretty low temperatures, very close to absolute zero. A form of Bose-Einstein condensate has been known since 1930 - superfluid helium. However, it wasn't until recently that a unique property of B-E-condensate was confirmed - all its constituent particles keep having their quantum states linked to each others' no matter how far they may be spread. In theory it is indeed possible to use this phenomenon to instantly transmit information through otherwise impenetrible obstacles or distance. I can hardly wait until they manage to sucessfully obtain two B-E-condensed particles at least as far as in two separate vessels. Or maybe a similar thing is in everyone's head? It seems like a very reasonable explanation of telepathy and things like that... Yes, I believe that's exactly the way the Universe came to be. The only thing I don't quite understand is why there was no vacuum before the Big Bang? Well, if there is no matter, it indeed can be difficult to tell whether something is there or not, but it doesn't fit into my brain that there can be absolute non-existence. There's no way anyone's going to destroy vacuum After all, the Big Bang theory works just as well if we assume that there was endless vacuum before it. Or at least so it seems to me. Another thing I don't quite understand is that in order for matter-antimatter pair to form in vacuum, suffecient energy is required to be transformed into matter, e.g. a photon. When matter and antimatter particles annihilate on each other, the same amount of energy is released. But I don't see a way of matter forming out of nowhere. Hmmm... maybe this means that at the moment of Big Bang there was no substance, but there was vaccum filled with some form of energy we don't know of yet? Of course this rises a question, where did this energy come from? I have trouble thinking of an answer, maybe later, when I get some sleep. And maybe there are places in the Universe which consist entirely of antimatter. Chances are, there is somewhere a planet similar to ours, populated by similar creatures... with the only difference that they all consist of antimatter. The first person from our world taking a step there is going to destroy their anti-planet in a fraction of second in a violent annihilation blast. Well, the same applies for their visitor to our world Hey, isn't Niels Bohr father of quantum physics? Well, what is of greater importance is that quantum theory doesn't prove God's existence. Why heck, there's nothing that can reliably prove God's existence. It's just my IMHO, but I think that every scientist that tries to rely on God for explaining the vast complexity of our reality is just a person too lazy to find a rational explanation. I would like to see your opinions on this matter. *whew* So, it was a great article! I haven't been thinking so much for a while now ;D Love this debate as i do ;D I am going to bow out gracefully now because I may get into deep water if I do, and I am,sadly, not knowledgeable enough to continue The floor is yours gentlemen, Please, no need to leave completely! I'm sure we're going to have situations here when your IMHO is going to be just as valuable as one's insight into scientific matters. Rei. N.V.T the Mrhnhrm of this world.

I too, am really enjoying this conversation. Thanks for your post, mrhnhrm. Ok. Let me try and explain in my most scientific tone of voice. The law of One. From what ive gathered, everything is made of energy. Even the emptyness of space. Now, if i think something, i create a rippel of energy, like breaking the surface of water. This thought of mine passes over and through someone else, and theyll get the same thought, or idea. Its the idea that if i can be a happier person, the whole world will be a happier place. Not only the world, but the entire universe, as we and everything is connected. Its like the hologram theory. If you break a small piece off a hologram of a persons face, the whole face will be on that piece, not just the eyes or an ear. On some higher level, we are all One. Im sacred to ask, but may i have your opinion, mrhnhrm. And yours, please sydney. And everyone elses. Love and light.

If I assume that all the substance in the Universe was formed as the result of the Big Bang, I also have to confirm that it was created out of energy of some sort. Which is probably related to this Universal Life Force, which also constitutes that subtle part of consciousness. So, it's possible for separate units of consciousness to get interconnected through this universal energy field. However, I don't think that each unit of consciousness contains ALL the knowledge in the Universe by default. So, I don't believe that we're like pieces of one hologram. Sure, we're all built in similar way and we have the same "language" of thinking, so I prefer to think that we're like a computer network rather than a "hologram", where each computer can choose and download all the data it would like.

Mrhnhrm • Well I must say I am impressed to say the least with your answers you are good. and for you to say I made you think made me smile .I have to tell you its easy to ask a question or make a statement not so easy to answer. And you did that in style my compliments to you .I should tell you about me I am just a redneck from down under however I do understand the concept of Quantum theory due to a few friends one was a German rocket scientist the other into elementary particles and as a hobby I play round with algorithms to crack the encryptions on satellites to get free TV .however over the next few days I am going to receive some very high energy healing to-morrow I will have a MRI .then a small tattoo for the target and then into a radiation chamber for 3D external beam radiation for 9gra,s to my pelvic region for bone cancer .however in my pocket will be a quartz crystal to absorb the splash and I will do the five count to stay still as I prefer to do it in one hit and when I get home I will do aura cleansing and meditation so as not to suffer radiation sickness as I did last time I took 9gra,s to the spine.(did not get sick) and like you I have no god and will give my thanks to science however I do go along with shin Buddhism you should look at it not a religion you might find it goes with your thinking I will tell you this if you one day want to move you would be very welcome in Australia and please give them hell on this forum I will see you soon Sidney. redneck from Down under. /ps I now step into the world of the Uncertainty Principle,

Thanks, mrhnhrm. Is that your real name, if i may ask? I believe we do have all the knowledge of the universe. We just need to access it through enlightment. Im not a professor on the subject so its hard to explain. But from your point of view, is the hologram theory a possibility? Im curious. What brings a scientist to a reiki forum? Thanks for the interesting company. Good luck, sydney. I find your positiveness inspiring. Love and lots of light.
