I found an article about this today and I thought it was worth posting something about this subject here for those who have doubts when Reiki doesn't seem to do what they 'expect' it to
One thing that we should all remember, that has already been talked about here, is that we are only channels for the energy so we shouldn't try to influence the outcome of a treatment or attunement. We should just relax and trust the energy to do what is best for ourselves or the people we are treating. The results may be unpredictable and our 'expectations' may not be promptly fulfilled, but this does not mean that Reiki hasn't worked.
Sometimes a person may lose secondary benefits if their symptoms are removed, so however much they say that they wish to get well, this may not be the case. Maybe they are getting a lot of attention from family and friends while they are unwell so they may be resisting healing at an unconscious level because they don't want to give up this attention.
You may also encounter a healing crisis occasionally, this may bring about the return of all the original symptoms. It is comforting to know that they are not back to stay, but this can be an unexpectedly traumatic experience so it is important to reassure the recipient if this occurs.
A healing crisis usually marks a turning point during treatment and indicates that repressed emotions have surfaced. It is usually after this point has passed that healing occurs.
If Reiki doesn't do what you 'expect' it to do......do not worry.......Reiki knows what is best for us .....better still.....do not have any expectations of what Reiki will do other than what is for our highest good
