The Blessing in "NO"
I asked God to take away my pride. God said "No". It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said "No". Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience. God said "No". Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness. God said "No". I give you blessings, happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain. God said "No". Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said "No". You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said "No". I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as he loves Me. God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!

This reminded me of a poem i read some time ago... I don't know who the author is but the poem is good anyway Dear God, I'm writing to say I'm sorry For being angry yesterday When you seemed to ignore my prayer And things didn't go my way
First, my car broke down I was very late for work But I missed that awful accident Was that your handiwork?
I found a house I loved But others got there first I was angry, then relieved When I heard the pipes had burst!
Yesterday, I found the perfect dress But the color was too pale Today, I found the dress in red Would you believe, it was on sale!
I know you're watching over me And I'm feeling truly blessed For no matter what I pray for You always know what's best! then the rest of the poem was a lot of yadda yadda about mailing it forward to a lot of people... but the first part is quite good and thoughtworthy.

a great thread, because when you find yourself in the middle of things, you might end up slightly frustrated to say the least - but at the end of the day, or at the end of a year when you look back and try to sum things up... you can almost see the red line, how one apparently random incident leads to another and suddenly... it all makes sense

Yea.. it's the the story with the footprints in the sand. It seems unfair until you see the whole pic.
