Stovetop Scalloped Apples (spiced apples)
6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 Cup butter 1/4 Cup light brown sugar 1/4 Cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Place apples in a nonstick saucepan with the butter. Cook for several minutes over low-medium heat. Add sugars, spices and vanilla and continue cooking on low-medium heat until apples are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
I personally add raisins to mine, and have used Gayla apples instead. I also simmer the apple mixture for about an hour after the 15-20 mins to make sure they are very juicy and soft.
Enjoy...... ;D

It's lovely ;D It smells so good too when you are cooking them, like a fall candle that you can buy in the stores.

this is definitely worth a try... soon. should the apples be sliced thinly for this recipe? thanks much! I don't really worry about that because I let them simmer after the initial cooking is done, but I would cut them to at least a quarter inch of thickness. If you want more of a tart/sweet combination I would use Granny Smith. ;D If you want an all around sweet flavor I would use an apple like a Gayla ;D Hope you enjoy it ;D ;D
