Reiki Healing Technique Procedure
The key to receiving benefit from using this method is to give it a chance to work. Some people can notice an immediate difference in the energy level while others have reported that they did not feel a change until after a couple of weeks of daily sessions. The technique is always working. It is ones perception that changes over time.
One practitioner who uses this method routinely said that he has never been able to sense energy even when using this technique. However, he has experienced a marked improvement with his health care issues by incorporating the Reiki Healing Technique into his daily self healing practice.
So I ask those of you who are new to Reiki or do not easily perceive subtle energy to be patient and let the blessings of this method come to fruition.
Steps:
1. While sitting comfortably, raise your right hand up with the palm of the hand open-facing forward- and fingers together. Resting your right elbow on the arm of a chair or sofa is ok.
At home, I normally use the side of the couch to rest my elbow or use pillows for support. Experiment with this and find what works best for you. For short sessions, one would most likely not require support in this manner.
2. Place your left hand on your left thigh palm down.
Note: If your left hand is dominant, you may find reversing the hand positions more effective with your left hand up and your right hand down on the right leg.
3. Place the tip of your tongue on to the upper pallet of your mouth. This connects and opens up the internal micro-cosmic circuit. Perform this step in an easy and comfortable manner. Do not curl the tongue too far back where it causes discomfort. It is okay to swallow when necessary. Touch the tip of the tongue towards the front of the upper pallet 1/2-3/4 of an inch behind the teeth where the pallet begins to curve upwards.
4. Breathe easily, slowly and deeply through your nose. Focus on your abdomen about 1-2 inches below the navel. This area accumulates Chi energy. In some Asian texts, this area is considered the center of ones being. Breathing into the abdomen is not necessary for the Reiki Healing Technique to work. It is an aid to help one get used to this method for increasing Universal Energy. The practitioner can stop focusing on this area once he or she is centered and has established the flow of Reiki.
5. Intend that loving Reiki energy is moving out through you into the world healing both you and all creation. This is an extension of the basic Reiki Healing Technique healing circuit and is not necessary for this method to work. One can also just choose to be present with the energy and let it flow without effort throughout the body after performing steps; 1 through 3.
After several minutes you will feel an increase in the level of healing energy beyond what you normally access. My suggestion is that the practitioner gradually work into this method of accessing Universal Energy. There is always the possibility of creating a healing/cleansing response in the body from working with increased amounts of healing energy. So go slow and increase your time as you feel comfortable.
Perhaps three daily treatments of 10-15 minutes to start with. With practice you will be able to comfortably access Reiki energy using this method for extended periods of time. The more you use this method the more healing energy you will be able to access. It is truly a blessing.

Both legs can remain flat on the floor or bed. The knees do not have to be raised. This is a very comfortable way to perform the technique when one is not feeling well. All the other parts of the technique remain the same.
