Enhancing Intuition with Reiji-ho
by Laurelle Shanti Gaia
Reiki is spiritually guided healing energy. Reiji-ho is a specific technique that helps you, as the practitioner, communicate with the wisdom of the Reiki energy itself. Reiji-ho can be translated to mean "indication technique" or "invitation technique" or "guidance technique". This is a very simple method that helps you align with your intuitive awareness and the guidance inherent in the Reiki energy.
Reiji-ho is considered to be the second "pillar of Reiki". Gassho is the first "pillar". Gassho means "two hands come together" as in prayer. In other traditions it is known as "prayer mudra". Gassho balances the polarities (yin/yang) energy of the body, and centers the practitioner. As a Reiki practitioiner, regular meditative practice of Gassho can enhance your awareness of Reiki and strengthen the flow of the energy.
To begin the process of Reiji-ho first begin with Gassho. Stand or sit comfortably with your spine straight, and begin by focusing on your breath and the tanden area (2nd chakra) area of your body. Place your hands together with the palms touching and the fingers aligned. Hold your hands in this position next to the heart chakra with the thumbs near or touching the sternum. As your hands connect to your heart the qualities of the heart chakra (love & compassion) energize your hands and you will begin to experience an inner stillness.
Once the hand/heart connection is felt or sensed, slowy raise your arms, with palms still touching, until they are at the level of your brow or third eye chakra. Here you will allow your thumbs to touch your forehead. This completes the energetic connection of the heart, hands and your intuitive center.
At this point, simply allow yourself to sense your connection with the energy, and mentally invite the Divine wisdom that guides Reiki to direct you to the first place your client should receive Reiki. This is also considered a form of scanning the etheric field or "assessing the aura".
In this process, Reiji-ho becomes one with the Reiki energy, which in turn blends as one with you, the practitioner.
You can also use a Gassho, Reiji-ho form of meditation to enhance your general intuitive abilities. Simply hold the intention that your intuitive awareness is expanding and becoming clearer. Next meditate in Gassho for several minutes, and then meditate for a few minutes with your hands in Reiji-ho and then place your palms over your heart chakra and hold them in this postion for a few moments as the Reiki energy flows into your heart. Regular practice of this meditation can produce beautiful results.
