I have composed a short visualisation, for the purpose of accepting negative thought to another person and letting go of the thought that consumes yourself.
Feel free to adapt this for your own individual use if you need to!.
As with any meditation, relax and make sure you wont be disturbed.You may wish to perform this visualisation exercise to music, or you may ask somebody to talk you through the visualisation as you would in a group sitting.
As this visualisation concerns letting go, it would be suggested that you may if you wish to, perform this as the Moon is waning.Using the Waxing/Waning cycle of the moon empowers and reinforces ritual.
So, relax, centre and ground yourself into your surroundings.
Visualise yourself, see yourself now standing at the outer limits of a mighty woodland.Before you stands many trees, Oak trees, Birch trees, Beech trees and Many more.The woodland is ancient, as old as the minds of Men, the trees stand like they have been there for eternity.
You feel the need, the desire to take yourself into this vast woodland, you feel drawn into its depths, you feel that deep within, is a special place for YOU.
You look to your left side, then your right side, and see that the woodland stretches as far as your eyes can see.The only way in is straight ahead!.You notice a small pathway ahead of you, it seems to cut through and wind its way into the depths of the woodland.The pathway seems almost Silver in its colour, with hints of a deeper Gold along the sides.
Take a deep breath through your nose and walk onto the pathway and take yourself into the woodlands.Fear not for nothing can harm you, within these ancient woodlands you are protected.
Walk yourself now into the woodlands, take note of what you see, what you pass as you walk yourself further inwards.Notice the variety of trees, see and feel the might of them.Feel the life in everything, as you walk forward, breath inwards through your nose and feel the life in every breath.As you walk forward, feel the life in every step you take forwards.
Remember any animals, any sentient beings you may encounter, these may be totems that may accompany you along your journey.
As you walk deeper into the woodlands, the light fades as the sunlight is blocked by the canopy of branches that now rise high above you.The pathway though shines with its Silvery glow, the deeper Gold tints highlighting the edge.The pathway twists and turns through and deeper into the woodlands, you walk forward without fear, confident that soon you will discover a special place just for YOU.
You sense you are being guided, directed to where you need to take yourself.
The light in the woodland fades, the trees become a mass of growth, the sunlight receeds, now the pathway, the Silvery glow with its Gold tints becomes your guiding light.The pathway leads you forward, with every new step the pathway seems to glow brighter, as you take another step you notice new colours along the pathway.The pathway draws you forward deeper into the ancient woodlands.
Now ahead of you, in the distance you notice a glimmer of light, it sparkles in the darkness of the depths of the woodland, with every step forward ot becomes greater and brighter.Walk forward now and follow the pathway with its beautiful colours, you follow the twists and turns and as you do, keeping your eye on the ever growing light ahead of you.It flickers brightly now and you can see the light is just ahead of you, the pathway is taking you to that flickering light that has taken your attention.
You have brought yourself to a small clearing in the middle of the woodlands, the bright flickering light you see is infact a small fire burning brightly in the middle of the clearing.It burns brightly and fiercely, but surrounded by stones to protect the ground it burns upon.
Take yourself now and sit yourself infront of the burning fire, the ground is soft and comfortable, the grass is dry to sit upon.It is a fine evening, the air is moist yet warm, you look above and see the skies are clear and the stars shine down on YOU.
Sit yourself down and be comfortable, feel the warmth of the burning fire, look into the flames of the fire and see the life within it.It burns effortlessly, it requires no attention.The heat penetrates your body, your spirit and soul completely.
You are comfortable in your surroundings, you feel at ease, at one, with the fire, the woodlands, you feel at one with the universe.
Now is the time, to bring to thought of anybody you feel negative towards.Be it anger, jealousy or greed.
The fire infront of YOU is infact now YOUR inner fire that burns deep within you, the fire that drives you through life itself.Gaze now upon that fire, feel that which is indeed YOU.
Bring to thought now anybody you feel negative towards, in any way for form.Be it a friend, stranger of a member of your family.
If you truly cannot think of such a person, then you should think upon any aspect of yourself that you dislike, a part of you, a habit.
Look towards the burning fire, admiring its ferociousness, and now if you have been able to bring to thought such a person you feel negative towards, or an aspect of yourself you dislike then place that person, or yourself on the other side of the burning fire.
focus on that person, or yourself and now think WHY they, or yourself manifests the negativity that consumes you.Lose all thought of the surrounding woodlands, take your total awareness to YOU and the other person, or aspect of yourself.
The fire still burns strongly.
Think of why maybe you feel resentment, jealousy or anger.Why and what does this person do, or dont they do, or are doing which causes you to become negative towards them and their actions.If you have focused upon an aspect of yourself, what is it about you, how you are, what you do that causes you to become negative.
How does this person make you feel, take yourself to a situation where you come into contact with this person, or a situation where you find yourself behaving wrongly in your eyes.Feel that situation, put yourself in that time and space, how do you feel now.If you feel anger, where do you feel it?, if you are becoming jealous, where are you feeling this jealousy?.What is it doing to you?.What are you doing to YOURSELF?.
Hold your thoughts upon these feelings briefly, notice how they affect you, how they make you feel.Think now to how they may make the other person feel, or how these actions and thoughts may affect you, how they will manifest.
Ask yourself, truly is this the correct way to think and behave?.Think now on how thought produces action, that what you think becomes so.Do you really want to feel the way you do to that other person?, or do you really dislike yourself for who you truly are?.
Think on how we are all individual and have individual pathways to follow, that we are all different and cannot be the same.That we were born the way we are and will be.
If you think jealousy towards another person, then think of YOURSELF and what you can do that another person cannot do.Ask yourself is that not fair justice?.
Ask yourself would it be far better to spend time developing what you can do instead of wasting time thinking in a negative way towards that person.
If you dislike a particular aspect of yourself, ask yourself if you can change the way you have become, accept that the only person who can change you is YOU.
If you hate the person sat across from you, imagine how it might feel if that person was to be angry or jealous towards you, and how it might feel.If you hate yourself, what might you be doing to yourself by being angry or dissatisfied with yourself?, how will that be manifesting in your life NOW?.
Feel and experience those emotions now, dont embrace them, just feel the outer edge of the emotions.Think now and accept, tell yourself you wish to and know to let go of those feelings.Accept that how you feel isnt correct, realise that what you think you will become.That all th anger you may direct at that other person will truly become you, and consume you.
Decided that you NOW wish to let go of whatver you hold against that other person or yourself for your OWN good, and for the benefit of the other person.The benefit of YOURSELF!.
Look to the other person still, or yourself, look at them wholly, the whole person, look to yourself in your entirety.Admire that other person or yourself for who they, or you are.
Tell yourself that that person or you are unique, tell yourself that they or yourself are/ is a beautiful creation and that they, or yourself deserves nothing less than unconditional love.
On the ground infront of you is a sheet of paper and a pencil.
On the sheet of paper, write down what you have felt towards that person or towards yourself.As you write down those feelings, make it your intention to put those feelings, whatever they are into that sheet of paper as you write upon it.Your INTENT is to transfer those negative thoughts into that piece of paper.
Write down all you have, the thoughts and emotions.Then take the paper and fold it tightly into a square or ball.Your INTENT now is to LET GO of all those feelings towards that other person or yourself.
Affirm to yourself, tell yourself...
"I now let go of jealousy/ anger/ hatred towards(persons name here)"
"I ask for forgiveness for my thoughts and feelings towards(persons name here"
"I ask to look upon(persons names) or myself with light"
"I accept i am individual and so is(persons name here)"
Look to the burning fire now and throw the paper into its depths, watch the fire burn it completely, and destroy the paper and its contents.
Affirm to yourself...
"I ask that the negativity between myself and(persons name) be dissolved"
Or.....
"I ask that the negative attitude i have towards myself be dissolved"
"I ask that my negative thoughts be dissolved with love and light"
"I ask that love and light be sent as healing to(persons name here)"
"I ask for love and light for healing for myself"
"I ask That i release myself from negative thought and action"
"I ask for love and light in the life of(persons name here) and in my life"
Affirm these to yourself as you watch the paper burn and be dissolved, taking with it the negativity you placed within it.
Know that the negativity, the anger or jealousy is unhealthy for the other person and YOURSELF and you have let go of it and it has been dissolved.
Know that you have to think higher of the other person or YOURSELF.
Accept that it is for the benefit of the other person and yourself to let go of negativity.
As the paper burns and dissolves, so too visualise that other person or yourself fading away, and as they do you know the negativity does so too.
Look as they or yourself fade, and from your heart centre send them or yourself UNCONDITIONAL lOVE.
Smile at them or yourself.
You may now sit and watch the fire burn for a while, if you have any other issues, you may repeat the exercise again.
Remember your INTENT is the key.
If you wish to open doors, you have to turn the key fully to unlock the door to step through it.
To return and end the visualisation, take yourself away from the fire, walk back along the pathway to the woodlands edge .
Bring your awareness back to normal everyday conciousness.
