Before starting your Reiki session, on yourself or on someone else, it is nice to try and calm the mind and release your own stress so that you can become a clear channel for the Reiki energy. Gassho Meditation is a simple technique that anyone can use and it's not a big fuzz... 5 minutes will be very beneficial. Try this and see for yourself: - Sit somewhere comfortable, or if you prefer standing, that's OK too
- Close your eyes and place your hands in front of your heart, palms and fingers together like in prayer
- Focus your attention to the point tip of your two middle fingers.
- Forget about the outside world for a moment. If your mind starts to wander, smile in your heart, let it go and focus again on the point where your two middle meet.
After a short time you might feel relaxed and in balance. Now is the time to start doing some Reiki. Have fun and enjoy ;D Michael

Thanks for posting this.
I often use the gassho, nearly every morning and before retiring at night. I find it very beneficial; energizing when I need it and relaxing when I need that.
I think it is a technique developed by Mr. Usui, but there is a very similar exercise used in Pure Land Buddhism. I have run across a lot of similarities between the two. Usui was said to be a Tendai Buddhist, with much exposure to Zen and Pure Land.
If I am not mistaken, his tomb stone is at a Pure Land Temple.

Gassho is very relaxing and energising and I've always used this before any healing work, even before I was introduced to Reiki ;D Blessings Love and Light Pam
