How to explain first I must explain thinking. If you have a thought it is made of energy a thought can be turned into sound waves as you speak and received by another and turned into a signal to the brain via energy and understood this can invoke thinking and a reaction can be laughter or sadness so when you have a thought it does not exist in nothing it is an impulse of energy and can effect others and yourself the object of most meditation is to put aside thoughts like in following the breath to rest your mind and body and to put aside bad thinking now bad thinking can make you depressed and cause you to be tense and can drop you in a black hole and all around you and a waste of energy on things that may never happen a lot of people do future thinking how they might do this or that It always goes to bad thinking and can spend all night pondering over tomorrow you might think you are working things out you are not you are building bad energy .It is better to live in the now you can learn to do this if you are aware of what your mind is doing this is called to know your self .there is a good type of mind training to help with this called walking contemplation meditation best done before you have dinner or while you are a bit hungry just on sunset or at twilight time or just sitting in a good spot or when you need it . Having a headset with music you like is good to have. however not necessary... You need a starting point decide where you are going to start ,Then close your eyes take a deep breath feel your tummy move as you breath I am going to do this open your eyes try to see the small things the ground under your feet think and take note walk slow you can count your steps see the sky listen for the sounds around you the birds your footsteps sound of the wind tell yourself this is now no past no future just NOW smell the air the smell of food cooking in the distance the green of the grass smell of new mown grass look and find the beauty around you say to your self [ things like] I see a small dog he looks happy fill you mind with the things you observe in the now if you have a head set put it on when you feel right to do so listen to the music let your body move with the beat use your eyes to and contemplate all you see. Do not let your mind drift away from the now if you pass someone smile to them if you get one back you will feel it. When you get to eat your dinner do the same thing savour each bite learn to keep your mind in the now .if you do this till it comes easy you can shift your mind at will and you will put out good vibes around you and the worry factor will drop and annoying people will have no effect on you it will pass over you. And when you do face a problem you will be able to give it you full attention not all people can do this however if you are Reiki you stand a good chance .cheers Sidney.

Hi Sidney, When I wrote the previous post, I was just finishing to read yours. But since then I tried your exercise. As much as I could (because I need it); when I am in front of the computer, when I am at work, when I wash dishes, before falling asleep or when I eat. You were right: it's so so difficult. But when you "touch" even if for only one moment that feeling... you search for it over and over again. Before this exercise, I thought I know what "living the moment" means. I was wrong . Thank you again. With love, Monica

Thanks for this sidney I first saw this technique on a video I rented a few years ago. It is difficult, but as with everything............it get easier the more you practice it ;D I'm lucky to live on the west coast, a few minutes walk from the beach ;D And I spend most evenings walking along the beach, listening to music or just the sound of the sea and the birds, smelling the sea, watching the sun go down and all the beautiful colours in the sky............and feeling all the beauty of life inside and all around me. It takes me to a place where I feel calm, happy and relaxed ;D love stef

Made perfect sense to me, Sidney. Sometimes, I do this meditation on the labyrinth, and it is very powerful. The other day, I used your method just in the park along the lake, and it was a bit more challenging. I think the labyrinth keeps me more "on track." But to be doing this just anywhere probably gives my"now" muscle a better workout. Love, Joanie
