Hi All, Something someone wrote on another board I'm at mentioned that she is going to be attuned to Reiki I and has been told she must wear no jewellry for this (she's a bit worried about a tongue piercing she has that she can't take out or put back in easily). The concensus seems to be that she must remove it to be attuned I've never heard this said before - is it really a prerequisite of being attuned? And does it apply to giving treatment: receivers would have to remove all jewellry each time? Thanks Everyone. (And hope you're all well). Much Love, tourmaline XXX

Hi Tourmaline I've never heard that one before..........some people say that belts should be removed, but I've never found that necessary.........as long as they're not tight........but that's more a comfort thing than anything else. I don't believe that jewelry needs to be removed............it certainly doesn't get in the way of either a treatment or attunement. love stef

Like Stef said, as long as circulation is not cut off or extremely tight you are ok. The energy needs to move freely within the body thats all. ;D love ruth

Hi Stef and Ruth I hadn't heard of this either until a new member on a board I'm at mentioned it in the Reiki forum - www.spiritualforums.comBut both members who replied to her said her tongue piercing needed taking out, even though she mentioned it would be difficult to put back in. My gut feeling was to reply and tell her it doesn't matter - but I thought I'd come and ask those I trust know their stuff first. Thank you. Much Love, tourmaline. XXX

I hear you. ...but I find no reason why energy couldn't by pass/absorb a tongue ring, belly button piercing or anything else for that matter. Reason being EVERYTHING has energy attached to it. The tongue ring will your energy in it, since its in your body. Everything holds a vibration..everything in this world does. They are not knowledged in this or they have been taught different, which is fine too. There is nothing in this world that doesn't have an energy of some sort with it. That goes for people that walk by a huge rock and touch it...it got your energy and you also picked up the rocks energy and those others who have touched it too, not to mention the sun's energy, the earth's energy and any animals that have been on it....get it? ;D You ARE FINE!!!! Nothing can happen, nothing can stop any attunement / healing unless you are not wanting it or reject it. love ruth

I must agree with all things said I have heard of this briefly though, I just dont remember where haha I trusted my intuition and dont believe that it interferes in a negative way When I send Reiki I usually flip my amethyst ring so that the stone is on the palm side of my hand. I do this so that the healing energies of the amethyst are sent as well I also wear a copper bracelet all the time ( I believe it to amplify the energy and ground me ) To tell you the truth I wear sooo much bracelets and necklaces and rings that It would take me soo long to take em all off hahaha Always follow your intuition Thats what I believe remember to have fun as well when channeling Reiki or receiving Reiki Love Light and Peace

I've always felt that the only reason you would take off your jewelry during Reiki is if it would get snagged, or scratch someone. But that's just me. Love, Joanie

Thank you so much for your answers, Everyone The person in question had a look in at this board (I gave her the link) and saw your answers for herself. She's going off today not worrying herself about jewellry any longer - and she intends to visit here often. My Thanks to you all again, Much love, tourmaline

I was told that the reason for removing all of your jewerly before any form of Reiki is done is that the metals that it is made of carries its own energy. If you send Reiki though an area that has a metal on it you would amplfy that metals energy into the process, where this could be a positive in some cases it could cause the effects that you intend to accomplish to be altered.

As long as you have the intention of cleaning and clearing your wears you are fine, if that is the case along with it goes clothes. Everything, no matter what it is carries energy. Having the intention not only to purify the area you work in, but in also your aura, your energy, your wears including jewelry and clothes have a play in doing your healing work. love ruth

This is really interesting reading. When I had my attunements done, the Reiki Master had in a tongue piercing. We were asked to remove any jewellery that was made of copper so that the energy forcew was not distracted though.
cheers

I was taught that no perfume /jewellry should be worn. I do ask that no perfume due to allergy. I have a tray so clients can use to put their jewellry in if they want to remove it. I do not ask that they remove their jewellry during an attunment or Reiki session. I have had clients heal themselves without removing their jewellry ;D

The perfume/incense/candle burning is a courtesy to those who are sensitive to allergens. It's kinda like when you go for a massage the they don't have long finger nails, courtesy. What ever the practitioner has on, wears or carries, carries energy, it is not wrong to wear all of the above, as long as you don't offend others with the smells, or scratching them from the jewelry. Some will wear a ring or a bracelet to enhance the healing since they contain stones. It's pretty much this; you do as you feel and as you have more experience and want to incorporate more tools with your healing you will experiment with all kinds of things. Some care for it while others don't that's with anything in life. Everyone likes something different. love ruth
