Hey guys and galz I have a discussion topic for all here I sort of have my answer already but i still am having trouble deciding what to believe in. So hopefully with some other ideas from you all it will help I believe it is safe to say that Reiki is controlled by a higher being and therefore always works fro the highest good of the recipient. That is something I have learned since day 1 I was also taught that Reiki is an Intent driven energy system. The Discussion question is this: Since Reiki (system) is driven by a higher force yet is also said to be intent driven; can to much intent slow down or block the flow of it entering the recipient? The reason I ask this is because i remember reading somewhere that it was best to not really have an intent and just to let the Reiki flow because when intent was manifested it limited the flow of Reiki. This would contradict the theory of a higher power controlling the energy wouldnt it? Please participate in this discussion if it strikes interest ;D As I said I am already leaning to one side but i first wanna hear what you all have to say before I make any conclusions Thanks Love Light and Peace

Hi Manuel,
You intend to send Reiki and then let the energy to flow, without expectations and without waiting for certain results. When you WANT to heal and you send energy to do this and that and with "something" results, you start using and sending your own energy, not Reiki. I hope I understood your question and I answered it. If not... bring it on! ;D ;D ;D
With love, Monica

Hi Manuel, You pose an interesting question, my friend. I believe that we are merely channels and often get in the way. This can also be true of 'passing' attunements. I often read distance request healings on this board, and others, and the healing starts to flow spontaneously. I haven't even had time to consciously think about it, never mind intend it, but then, I always want to help out when I can. Best wishes, Danny

Hi Manuel What a good question my short answer is intent is the trigger and the stronger the better however you could write a book on the subject I think you have to consider the psychology effect and also how strong words are I have been on the receiving end of this only once I understand hypnosis and suggestion and would make a connection there and when receiving Reiki it made no difference to me to explain some time back on this site Reiki was sent to me to explain I was given six months to live in October 2006 and was only offered palliative care and my intent was to live as long as I can and it was strong and still is they give you radiation just enough to stop the pain as my pelvic area the bone was full of it I asked them to have a go at killing it I was warned that it would shorten my life and I would be very sick and may do damage to my bladder and bowl etc however I had reached a point of not being able to walk so I said I want to do it even the guy when I was on the radiation table said this is a big dose you are receiving my reply was turn it on turn it on now Reiki was requested on my behalf I took ten days of radiation and I will tell you radiation sickness is not fun .at my lowest point I opened up the Reiki pages on this site the number of replies blew me away and one in particular from Danny I am sending you loads all I can muster etc and the ones with strongest intent got me. Got tears in my eyes all the people I will never meet all over the world gave me a lift like I have never felt before. And I am still very thank full and I know how it feels and by the way I am walking ok and still alive .and the reason I send Reiki on the distant healing page all the time and at the moment a guy named Robbie and others like Peter needs all he can get and I see it being sent to his family as well so I tell you it’s a good thing to do hell I am ravening on so I will close at that cheers Sidney.

Here's what I believe. I'm not quite sure if it applies to intent or not. I believe that most people "try" too hard when they work with the energy. I believe that the energy flows through you best when you are relaxed and not tense and trying too hard. This may be what you are referring to. There is no reason to have "too much" intent. You should be relaxed and ready to be a channel for the energy to flow through.
I learned this the hard way. I used to try too hard and the experience would leave me drained. Through much practice, I finally realized to put myself aside and let the energy do the work. It did not need me (smile).
I hope this answered your question.

Hi I don't know if this discussion is still open or not, sorry if its too old. I think that one's intent is important in establishing a link, if you like. Our intent is to be the empty bone, the channel, that facilitates the flow. Danny said: "I often read distance request healings on this board, and others, and the healing starts to flow spontaneously. I haven't even had time to consciously think about it, never mind intend it, but then, I always want to help out when I can. " I find this too, on this board and others. Sometimes I don't actually answer, because I don't have the words, yet I know that in my way I have added to the flow, as that was my intent. So in that way, I don't think we can have too much intent. But I think if our intent is directed in to a specific outcome, that can get in the way. If we try to consciously direct our energy to a specific area, perhaps our interpretation of the necessary outcome gets in the way. Like a sort of well meaning ego trip. We can't see the outcome necessary, even though we think we can, so in that way our intent, though well meaning, could be contradictory. Blessings - Wolfsinger x
