I was attuned to Reiki 1 this past Saturday and suddenly I feel so moody and sad. I was feeling great up to that point. My teacher told the class that we would most likely go through a phase of cleansing out toxic emotions and such. On top of it all, my hands and sometimes my feet feel as though they are constantly burning hot.
Is there anything special I can do to ease these feelings or do I have to let them purge out? I've been doing reiki on myself and it eases everything a bit but I normally don't feel like this and I'm not fond of the moodiness.

My friend was attuned many years ago, and he went through similar things, also a friend who had been attuned to level 1 and 2 in the same day had this too but was more intense than the previous mentioned friend. I can't really talk from personal experience when it comes to reiki but in Buddhism similar things can happen especially when you do intense purifaction on yourself through meditation.

Oh wow, what did they do to ease the effects? I've been doing reiki on myself and it helps and then it seems to hit hard again a few hours later.
Water is my best friend right now too, I used to not be too fond of drinking it, but I cant get enough of it now.

Well my friend who had level 1 just went with it and let it happen, he kind of understood what was happening so it wasn't that big of a deal. the one who had both 1 and 2 in the same day I think he just tried to cope with it the best he could, but he did have support from others so that helped him. I think the best thing you could do is to take it as it comes, think of it like this, the moods you have and your feeling of sadness your having only have a real effect on you if you let them.

That's true.
I kind of made a list in my head of the things that keep popping up that are making me a little moody and I've been thinking a lot about them and then letting them go and moving on to the next. It seems to have helped.
That and I knit and it's very relaxing for me, so I'm working on a nice blanket. My fiance laughs at how fast I'm knitting..lol!
Thank you for the advice, I truly appreciate it. ;D

Hello , It seems you found answers really quick and by yourself. First, congratulations on your attunement! During and after an attunement, the energy starts to clear everything has to be cleansed. From toxins to thoughts, feelings, emotions you put somewhere deep inside you, pretending they are not there. Now, you vibrate on another level. All those hidden thoughts and emotions will come out and, as you do, you will have to take them one by one, accept them and move forward. Also, as you do, the best thing is to ground (which includes do things that connects you to what it's around you, earth if you can say so, like washing dishes or knitting ;D). You can also imagine the energy flowing through your body and going into the ground (you can even imagine roots that grow from your feet and connect you with Earth - a great post in the forum, I will search for it). Drink plenty of water and do Reiki on yourself as much as you can. You'll feel great in no time With love, Monica

hi JustJen78Blue attunement to reiki was your first step towards liberation from un-necessary loads... you are offloading, physically as well as emotionally, from the excess baggage... be with it, and wait the results with patience, that won't disappoint you ! best care salman

I went through similar stuff when I was attuned -at level one I had the crazy heat that felt like burning in my hands and feet, and at level 2 I had lots of mood swings and emotional outbursts that were completely out of character for me. Lots of self-treatments, lots of water and trying to take it easy along with knowing its all part of the process helped to get me through. It was good to have my teacher to talk to -it would have been even better to have had a forum like this then. Reading other peoples experiences both before and after was good too as it helped me to know what to expect. Much love and good luck!
